“We’re delighted to be involved again” said Matt Treviss, Head of Marketing. “This event is a special one for us. We’re really focussed on our local market, and with both our Winchester store just up the road in Winnall, and our headquarters not far away, this event is right up our street. Plus, our own riders love to take part. It’s not often you can experience city centre racing in such a spectacular location as Winchester”.
Winchester City Council is committed to providing opportunities to be inspired by and get involved in activities like cycling, and are delighted to be hosting this year’s Criterium and CycleFest event. “I am really excited about the event again this year” said Amanda Ford, Head of Sport and Physical Activity. “We launched the event in 2013 as part of our Olympic and Paralympic Legacy and it really shows our long-term commitment that five years on we are back, bigger and better than ever, partnering again with a terrific group of local organisations”.
“We are thrilled to be a part of the Winchester Criterium and Cyclefest for the first time. Our passion is to inspire millions to get moving as a part of keeping healthy; and the popularity of cycling has grown over the last few years as it offers both a way of keeping healthy while offering practical solutions like the commute to work. We are proud to be supporting such a fantastic local event!”
“We’re excited to be back at this brilliant event,” said South Downs Cycling Projects Officer Alister Linton-Crook. “Our ride is a unique chance for you to enjoy a traffic-free ride around the heart of the historic city. New for 2017 we’re also inviting people to ‘Discover the National Park’ in Abbey Gardens where we’ll have free family fun throughout the day.”
We are delighted that the 2017 Winchester Criterium and CycleFest will once again host British Cycling’s South Region Circuit Race Championships and are very happy to support the build up to the event and provide the necessary officials on the day. The riders have to adapt quickly to the challenge of the technical nature of the circuit and very much appreciate the City’s back drop and the huge crowds that come out and support – it’s what Criterium racing is all about.
Hampshire County Council have been a supporter of the event from the start, and continue to invest in the event as it grows.
Winchester BID are pleased to be involved in the Winchester Criterium & Cyclefest again this year. More information as to how they are supporting the event will follow soon.
