The Family Ride is back – and we’re going GREEN with South Downs National Park!

The ride will mark the opening of the Criterium and CycleFest at 10am, and families and friends can sign up in advance to cycle around the 1km event circuit for up to an hour before the racing starts.

“We’re excited to be back at this brilliant event,” said South Downs Cycling Projects Officer Alister Linton-Crook. “Our ride is a unique chance for you to enjoy a traffic-free ride around the heart of the historic city.”

With a green theme the South Downs National Park Family Ride will reflect both stunning landscapes right on Winchester’s doorstep and a commitment to active car-free travel.

“We’d love to see the family riders dressing up to make the  ride as bright and green as possible” added Alister. “Afterwards we’ll have pond dipping, fun and games, face-painting and crafts in Abbey Gardens to get our younger riders in the spirit of things.

If you feel like taking them riding a little bit further we’ll have lots of ideas and inspiration for getting out into the South Downs on your own or with guided ‘Discovery Rides’.

The event was over-subscribed last year so registration before the day is a must. Follow our Facebook and Twitter pages for up to date information.

See you on 11th June!
